About Liz Verna
Liz has a Master’s Degree in Art Therapy and is a NYS Licensed Creative Arts Psychotherapist. She has also earned paychecks in Finance, Education and Entertainment, and is well-schooled in the ways that stress, bleak environments, and interpersonal static can erode even the most powerful of sensibilities, making the determined unfocused and the passionate lethargic.
Liz has written her way through depression, ridiculously bad decisions and dysfunctional relationships (suitable for framing here at comic-sense.com). But it was in 2012, when she lost her father, spent all her money buying a house and got a divorce all in one year that she leaned on her creativity more than she ever had. Her writing gave her the place to rage and clarify, plan and heal, hope and survive, and now she is passionate about helping others find their strength in the same way.
As a therapist, Liz has worked in outpatient day programs, schools and psychiatric hospitals with children, adults, and geriatrics. Liz has been a client seeking therapy, has coached and been coached. Her therapeutic techniques harness your innate creative drive to conquer barriers while tending to past experiences that affect your future outlook.
She has worked with the aggressive, the depressed, the angry, the abandoned, the disillusioned, the terrified, the sad, the manic, the delusional, and the lost, finding the same trait within them all: Possibility.
